Issue
Burnham Health Promotion Trust required a suitable safety surface for an outdoor trim trail installation at Burnham Park Hall.
The equipment was installed within a grassed area, so the surfacing needed to provide protection around the various activity stations while still keeping the overall appearance of the site as natural and green as possible.
A traditional wet pour or solid rubber surface would have created a more permanent-looking finish across the area. Instead, the project required a practical safety matting solution that could be installed around the outdoor fitness equipment while allowing grass to grow through the matting over time.
Solution
Grassmats supplied 190 of our 22mm playground safety grass mats to Trim Trail Limited, who undertook the installation for their client, Burnham Health Promotion Trust.
The mats were installed across the main activity zones and around the individual pieces of outdoor fitness equipment. In total, the installation covered approximately 285m² across the site.
The 22mm rubber grass mats were positioned beneath and around the equipment to help create a safer surface for users while retaining the grassed finish of the surrounding park area. Once the grass grows through the apertures in the mats, the surface will become more integrated with the existing lawn.
