Frequently Asked Questions

For product specific questions – please check out the product page itself.

Grass Mats

Grass mats or grass protection mesh?Generally this is a nice simple question and depends on one thing – vehicle use! If you are looking to protect the ground from pedestrian use and animals, we always recommend the rubber grass mats due to their thickness and the level of protection that they provide.

When vehicles are involved, and tyres are likely to be turning over the area you are looking to protect, we generally recommend the plastic ground protection mesh. If it’s a case of a vehicle going in a nice straight line over the top of the product, the mats would be fine, but any turning could cause the rubber to tear.

What are the differences between gateway mats, pathway mats, rubber mats and playground safety mats? The short answer is that there aren’t any differences! These mats are referred to as different names across various industries and we just want to make sure we are catching all possible target audiences and tracking their ultimate use. Just goes to show how versatile the mats are as they can be used for so many different reasons!

Are other colours available? We have a variety of 22mm rolls (1m x 7.5m, 1m x 10m and 1.5m x 7.5m). We recommend these rolls for when you want to cut down your installation time as you don’t need to worry about tying each of the mats together with cable ties.

The rolls are perfect for walkways whereas the mats are better for bulk areas and give you more flexibility to try and work your way round corners.

Grass Reinforcement Mesh

Grass mats or grass reinforcement mesh? Please see above where we answer this question under the grassmat heading. In short, if vehicles are going to be driven over the top then we recommend the grass reinforcement mesh.

How thick should the mesh be?This largely depends on the type of use and how regularly used the product will be.

The heavy duty version of the mesh should definitely be used for regular day to day use and for larger or heavier vehicles.

Please see more details on the product page itself regarding the types of vehicle that the mesh is unsuitable for (i.e. tractors and forklift trucks), or for vehicles / loads weighing in excess of 7.5 tonnes.

Do I need any fixings (pegs or pins)?Fixings are needed to be able to secure the mesh flush to the ground. We sell metal u-pins that help keep the mesh down to allow the grass to grow through the product to be able to provide the necessary support for it to be used effectively. The number of pins required is dependent on the size of roll, and our recommandation is shown on the product page.
The rolls are perfect for walkways whereas the mats are better for bulk areas and give you more flexibility to try and work your way round corners.

Gym Mats

Which gym mat is right for me?We have 4 main option of gym mats.

Home coloured gym tiles – these are our thinnest (10mm) but most aesthetic gym mats! Perfect for home gyms, for gentle exercises and lightweight machines and weights.

Solid top gym mats – these 16mm mats are 12mm of rubber with a 4mm underside bobble and are our most popular product as they are the most affordable per m2.

Interlocking gym tiles – these 50cm x 50cm tiles or 1m x 1m mega tiles, are 17mm thick and are super durable

Can the gym mats be cut?The mats are only supplied in the measurements listed on the website, but can absolutely be cut to size to ensure a nice flush fit once installed. Customers often cut the jigsaw type pieces off the interlocking gym tiles so they can sit flush against a wall.

The thinner mats can easily be cut with a sharp blade from a stanley knife, but for the heavy duty mat we recommend a tool such as a hack-saw or circular blade. They can be cut with a stanley knife but it might take a while!

Do you offer ramped edging to eliminate trip hazards?Yes we do.

There are different edging pieces available to fit each style of mat and full details can be found on the specific product page.

Can I use these mats in a home garage?Yes these mats although are marketed for gym use, are also perfect for garages and sheds. The mats are also used in warehouses due to their anti-fatigue properties.

Can I use the mats outside? We don’t typically recommend the gym mats for outdoor use, other than the straight edge heavy duty gym mats.

We have had customers use them outside and are more than happy with them, but on rare occasions, the combination of rain / sunlight and changes of temperature can cause the rubber to expand and contract and cause pressure on the areas where the mats interlock together.

Do the mats contain any EVA foam? No. Whilst EVA foam tiles are typically cheaper – we don’t believe they make for a good quality mat  . Our mats are all made from a combination of natural and recycled rubber which makes them much more durable than plastic / EVA foam mats.

Do I need any adhesive to stick the mats to the floor? No. Due to the weight of the mats, adhesive is not necessary.

Delivery

Can I collect my order?Yes! The majority of our products are available for collection from our warehouse in Congleton, Cheshire. Just select the collection option at checkout and we will be in touch to confirm all is okay to visit us on site!

The only exception to this is our plastic grass protection mesh which is stored and shipped directly from our supplier.

How do you calculate delivery charges? Our delivery calculator is variable and is dependent on the type and quantity of mats ordered.

Small orders are generally sent as parcel(s) and there is a fixed charge per parcel. Unfortunately due to the size and weight of the mats the cost is more expensive than the type of order you may normally be used to from the likes of Amazon! Parcel couriers unfortunately don’t like large delivering our large and heavy parcels and so charge us more for the service 🙁

Larger orders are normally sent on pallets and the price is dependent on delivery postcode. The majority of UK mainland has the same pallet charge, with additional amounts payable to locations such as Scottish Highlands, Northern Ireland and remote areas.

Do you offer tracking services? Our parcel couriers should provide updates and tracking as soon as we book an order on with them.

Unfortunately, our pallet deliveries can’t be tracked live and we are unable to guarantee any specific delivery dates but we can certainly try and track down deliveries for you if required. We use external couriers and rely on the UK palletforce network who are responsible for the safe delivery of our product. For any specific requests such as booked windows, AM/PM deliveries or a book-in service, these are avaialble upon request for a surcharge.

How do I unload the mats if I am expecting a palletised delivery?Pallet deliveries are typically delivered on a 7.5 tonne truck by the palletforce network.

We request that all of our pallet deliveries are delivered to our customers on a truck with a tail-lift facility. E.g. the driver will be able to unload the pallet from the back of the truck and then use a pump truck to wheel it to the kerbside.

As standard, it is a kerbside delivery and that is all that the driver is obligated to do. However, ask nicely and if the conditions allow (i.e. access is good) then the driver may be able to wheel the pallet to a more desired location for you. You will be responsible for unpacking the pallet in due course and then disposing of the pallet once fully unloaded.

What are standard lead times?Almost all of our orders are dispatched either same working day, or next working day from receipt of order.

From then, parcels are ususally delivered the next working day after we dispatch them.

Pallet deliveries are usually delivered 2-3 working days from date of dispatch.

Can we deliver outside UK mainland?Yes, we have a delivery partner that can deliver across Europe. Please get in touch for a quote.

Can I return my order? If you have any problems with your order once received, please just get in touch with us and we will be happy to help.

If you have changed your mind and no longer want the products that have been delivered to you, within 30 days we will accept the return of them if they have not been used and are still in perfect condition. However, we request that you pay the costs of returning them. We can arrange for the collection and return of these and deduct the cost from any refund given. As above, please contact us to arrange this and we can confirm all / any costs involved.
