Location: South Bank, Hassocks.

Issue 

At busy and competition weekends and during clubhouse events, the Tennis Club has been struggling for parking spaces.  There was an area of grass within the club grounds that had been used to handle the extra parking need, but this was showing unacceptable wear and tear and becoming close to being unusable.  This was especially acute if the need was a winter event.  The Club wanted to able to use the extra spaces when required, keeping the area as grass with as little disruption as possible.  Also, the solution required to be low cost and not needing planning. 

Solution

To solve the problem, The Tennis Club went with the Grass Reinforcement Heavy installed by Grassmats.  Some preparation work was done in smoothing out the existing area and reseeding as appropriate.  This was decided after taking into consideration soil and drainage conditions, the expected frequency of use, times of the year of most use and acceptable costs of the solution.  Once the Grass Reinforcement had become entangled with the grass, it would become almost invisible.  The matting was installed by the Grassmats install team in one day.

The Weald Tennis & Squash Club now have a reinforced grass car parking area which can be used all year round when required.  The grass park will allow events to go ahead when planned.  Also extra events can now be entertained.  Grassmats Grass Reinforcement needs no extra drainage installed as it is fully porous.   No planning was required and The Club having a grass car park that is very much in keeping with the area.
