Requirement: Overflow Grass Car Parking for up to Cars on Matchdays & Events

Client: Turvey Football Club

Location: The Recreation Ground, Turvey, Bedford.

Issue

Due to the expansion of the Football Club and so an increasing number of teams there has been an ever-increasing demand on parking. The particular problems were for the pickup and dropping off area on matchdays, spectator parking and lack of parking in surrounding streets.  Restrictive planning issues, excessive costs and drainage logistics, meant that hardstanding could not be considered.

Solution

To solve the problem Turvey Football Club went with the Grass Reinforcement Heavy installed by Grassmats.  This was decided after taking into consideration soil and drainage conditions, the expected frequency of use, time of the year of most use and low costs needed to provide the solution.  Once the Grass Reinforcement had become entangled with the grass, would become almost invisible.  The matting was installed by the Grassmats install team over two days.

Benefits

Turvey Football club now have a reinforced grass car parking area which can be used all year round for parking and drop off & pick up for up to an extra 48 cars.  The grass park will remove the pressure to park in the on surrounding streets, need no extra drainage installed as the grass reinforcement is fully porous.   No planning required and having a grass car park is very much in keeping with the area.
