Issue
Battlers Green Farm required a practical overflow parking solution to provide additional customer parking during busier periods.
The site already had a grassed field used for overflow parking, located close to the main site. The requirement was to reinforce this area so it could better support vehicle use while retaining the grassed appearance of the field.
The parking area was intended mainly for peak demand periods such as holidays and events, with use limited to cars.
Solution
Grassmats supplied and installed 36 rolls of Heavy Duty Grass Reinforcement Mesh, covering approximately 1,440m².
The mesh was installed over the existing grass surface and fixed using metal U pins. The reinforced area created a large overflow parking area for customer vehicles.
Heavy Duty Grass Reinforcement Mesh was selected because the area was intended for vehicle use during busier trading periods. The product helps spread vehicle load across the grassed surface while allowing grass to continue growing through the mesh.
Early Settlement and Grass Growth
Following installation, the customer noticed some slight lifting or bubbling in parts of the mesh during the first few days. This coincided with warm weather shortly after installation.
Grass reinforcement mesh can move slightly during the early bedding-in period, particularly before the grass has fully grown through and entangled with the mesh. Grassmats advised that the surface should continue to settle as the grass established through the mesh, and that additional pins could be added locally if any specific areas needed extra support.
A later photo from the customer showed grass growing through the reinforcement mesh, helping the surface begin to blend back into the field.
